COVID update (open work permit Canada Immigration)
Public Policy effective from Jan 27, 2021
Read the article to see if you are eligible to apply for a one-time open work permit. Validity is up to 18 months and needs to apply online by July 27, 2021.
Who qualifies and What are the requirements?
To be eligible for this open work permit, you must meet the following 5 requirements:
| 1 | Your Post Graduate Work permit | Either expired on or after Jan 30, 2020 OR Will expire within 4 months from the date of this open WP application. |
| 2 | Canadian Stay | You must be in Canada as of January 27, 2021, and have not left until you get the WP. |
| 3 | Status in Canada | a. have temporary resident status or b. lost your temporary resident status, but you’ve already applied to restore it, or c. lost your temporary resident status, but you’ll apply to restore it at the same time as applying for this open WP. |
| 4 | While you apply | Add necessary information/documents to describe the WP is applied on the basis of this public policy. |
| 5 | Passport Validity | a. You must have a valid passport. b. The validity of the work permit is a maximum of 18 months or the max validity of your passport. So, make sure your passport is valid to take advantage of full 18 months. |
